Berry Beater & Gathering Tray
Harvesting small, thorny berries like Buffalo Berries or Hawthorns one by one is a slow and painful process. The traditional solution was the Berry Beater.
Technical Design
By using a fan-shaped willow beater and a wide rawhide tray, a single harvester can strike the branches, causing only the ripe berries to fall into the tray.
Modern Application
For the modern forager, this technique remains the most efficient way to gather wild fruits for Wasna, jellies, and syrups.
